Amy Eckman is a highly experienced dispute resolution professional with the unique perspective, expertise and judgment of both a business executive and a lawyer.

A lawyer by training, admitted to the bars of both New York and New Hampshire, she spent over 25 years as a business executive and co-owner of a major construction company (Eckman Construction) in the New England region. In her capacity as a successful business executive, she dealt with all manner of commercial matters, including contracts, real estate development, leases, insurance, employment, design, and marketing.

Since 2008 she has been based primarily in New York City where she has arbitrated and mediated many complex commercial, construction and real estate cases. She has a secondary location in the Los Angeles area.

The combination of her technical law background and her practical business experience enables her to appreciate all sides of a dispute, to carefully assess the totality of the situation, and to arrive at a just and appropriate award or to facilitate a satisfactory settlement.

As a former business executive, Ms. Eckman is keenly aware of the need for expediency and cost containment. She strives at all times to move the process to a speedy, cost effective resolution. A member of the AAA Large, Complex Case Panel, as well as the FINRA panel and the New York Supreme Court Commercial Division panel, she has successfully arbitrated and mediated a broad range of cases.

Ms. Eckman was recently featured in the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section Publication “Just Resolutions”.  She also has been a featured speaker on ADR in construction at the NYC Bar Association CLE: Litigating Construction Project Disputes 101.
